I AM GOING TO CUT MY HAIR FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!!!
My Name is Avangelina and I am 7 years old. My baby brother Dean was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes almost 2 years ago, he is now 6 years old.
This news changed all my family's life. Simple things like having a snack were no longer easy. We have to test Dean's Blood Glucose Level's 6 to 8 times everyday and he has to have 4 needles everyday whenever he has a main meal. My mum has to prepare a snacks with no more than 15g of carbohydrates before we go anywhere. All these changes took a while to get used to but as my brother and I are getting older my parents are teaching us how to make good food choices. We also spend a lot of time playing sport as this helps keep Dean's BGL's in a good range.
Dean hates checking his Blood and that worries me because I'm scared he might get very sick or even die. I love my brother more than a billion stars and we always laugh when we are together. Dean is my superhero and now I want to be his hero. I have been growing my hair since I was born and now I'm ready to cut it off to help raise money so scientists can find a cure for my brother.
My hair from the bottom of my ear is almost 70cm long, way down to my thighs.
I also want to give my hair to the CANCER FOUNDATION so they can turn it into a wig to help young children with cancer.
Please help me raise money!!!
I want to support JDRF because they accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications. There is currently no cure, and no way of preventing T1D, which is why I want to take action.
Six Australians every day receive the life-changing news that they have type 1 diabetes, most of them children.
Your kind donation ensures that we can provide the best research outcomes for the T1D community in Australia. The more people that know about JDRF, the greater the impact, so please help me by spreading the word and sharing my page with your friends and family.
Let’s turn Type One into Type None.
