My Story

I want to support JDRF because they accelerate life-changing breakthroughs to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D) and its complications. There is currently no cure, and no way of preventing T1D, which is why I want to take action.

Six Australians every day receive the life-changing news that they have type 1 diabetes, most of them children.

Your kind donation ensures that we can provide the best research outcomes for the T1D community in Australia. The more people that know about JDRF, the greater the impact, so please help me by spreading the word and sharing my page with your friends and family. Let’s turn Type One into Type None.

I am committing to compete (or perhaps just complete) in the following endurance events:

Western Sydney Half Ironman - November 2016.
Huskison Long Course Triathlon - February 2017.
New Zealand Ironman - March 2017
Ultra Trail Australia 100km Ultramarathon - May 2017.

As I am sure you can all imagine, to complete and even train for these events requires a dedication and sacrifice above and beyond. It is the knowledge that at the end of each race, I will know that my efforts might have contributed to research that will turn Type 1 into Type None, which will push me through the tough training sessions and the inevitable mental games during each race.

Thank you in advance for your support and I hope you can come along and cheer me at one of my races.

We all think one prick is too many pricks. Now imagine if that one prick turned into 8, every day for the rest of your life …. ….

This is what faces approximately 120,000 Australians every year for the rest of their lives. This is incredibly daunting for an adult, but almost inconceivable for a child of 4 or 5. As you can see from our photo, Type 1 Diabetes does not discriminate, and affects everyone, of all ages. Type 1 Diabetes is still something that, as yet, the medical profession has not been able to find a cure for.

Our team Too Many Pricks, is raising money and awareness for JDRF, whose mission is a future without Type 1 Diabetes. Along with JDRF, Too Many Pricks goal is to turn Type 1 into Type None and this can only happen with the generosity of those supporting our team.

We thank you in advance for your support and can only ask you to give generously for this fabulous cause and pass on this fundraising effort to everyone and anyone.
